Online Storage Service
I received a message today. Baidu Netdisk told me that I haven't logged into my netdisk account for a year. My account will be reclaimed in 30 days. I logged into my account, there are files from three, four years ago. Some of them had been there for a decade but I didn't even remember.
When I lost my computer when moving home 20 years ago, I decided to make backups for my important files. I burned data to almost 30 CDs with a CD burner. Most of them are movies and video games. But I didn't have a CD drive with any of my computers since Apple released the famous Macbook Air. Those CDs become tombs of data of my life.
Internet grows faster than people expect it to. There are cloud storage services like SkyDrive (now OneDrive), Google Drive, Dropbox etc. I have used each of them. My files scattered like leaves in various places. Yes I forgot about them most of the time. That means they don't mean anything to me anymore.
This isn't a good idea. I decided to store my important files in one or two places. I self-hosted a cloud drive for storing small files and frequently used files. Then I sync my work files in OneDrive and Google Drive. I download movies and TV shows to my SSD if possible.
It took me 3 years to clean all my files and I won't finish them anytime soon. Organizing files becomes a habit instead of digital hoarding.
Maybe it is just another bad habit. I have no idea but I don't care anymore. It cured my anxiety.
Day 51.
