Mariah Carey Is Unfreezing
Every year when Christmas Day is coming, a classic song is gonna be everywhere. The song released in 1994, one year younger than me, is "All I Want For Christmas Is You".
Like I said before, my country is not a theistic country. But there are religious people, churches and temples. When Christmas Day comes, people really don't celebrate the birth of Jesus (most don't believe this), but they celebrate the day as a "let's have some fun" day.
I see this as an interesting phenomenon. Businesses and merchants repackaging foreign holidays as commercial holidays, turns out it works really well. People sell and buy, people have fun, companies benefit.
Today is the 7th Dec, the weather is still warm. Even feels hot somedays. I can see young ladies wearing red hats and white dresses already. There are jingle bells and decorations in some stores. My friends and I are talking about jokes about Mariah Carey is coming out again.
I actually like this. In the end of a year, we relax and celebrate, have fun and enjoy the holiday (there is actually no holidays except HK). Looking forward to having a better "next year", for Christ's sake.
Day 52.
