Curiosity Conflict
In my opinion, shifting from exploration to exploitation is pretty much like shifting from consuming to creating.
Curiosity brings dopamine, dopamine brings motivation on exploring all possibilities, but not the more focused work of exploitation. This is called Curiosity Conflict.
To resolve curiosity conflict, I can:
- keep a curiosity inbox - put everything interesting in it (new ideas), manage the rating as time goes on, get a ranked list of ideas based on my interests
- Timeshielding: How to Do the Things you Actually Want to Do
- find partners
- practice metacognition - try plus minus next sheet and review weekly to find out what is worth focusing on
- embrace JOMO: the joy of missing out (comparing to FOMO, the fear of missing out)
These are a collection of Anne-Laure Le Cunff's ideas. They are valuable and work for me. I would like to note them down and share them with people.
