The memory could not be written.

Album By Album

Today is the first day of December, it's a great day to listen to Back To December by Taylor Swift.

There are some different patterns of listening to music. My favorite is listening to music album by album, from track 1 to the end of the album. It often takes about 40 minutes to 90 minutes to finish a whole album.

I developed this habit when I was young, I went to music store and bought CDs, went home and placed it into a CD player, plugged my headphones in, and started to listen. Those were times I was listening to the first 3 or 4 albums of Taylor Swift, Hybrid Theory and Meteora of Linkin Park, some greatest hits of Whitney Houston (R.I.P.) and Mariah Carey etc.

This habit follows me until today, even when I use music streaming services like Spotify or Apple Music. I would download the whole album and listen in order when I am driving or doing some light tasks. This feels great because I can understand what a singer/artist is trying to tell the audience.

The whole album is a concept. If not listening from start to finish, it would somehow break the concept, especially if the album is built on a strong notion.

But it's not absolute, I may listen to one single song repeatedly. Different patterns bring different experience. Each of them is great and choose them based on my mood.

Day 46.
